Parents at an Encinitas, CA charter school, the San Diego County-Innovation Centre Encinitas | Julian Charter School are angry and very concerned about their children’s exposure to strong levels of radiofrequency radiation. They didn’t know, when they enrolled their children in what seemed like an idyllic environment, that there were up to 18 cell antenna on the El Camino Christian Fellowship, also known as Encinitas Beach Chapel church property where the charter rents space. This includes 14 in the church steeple that is next to the classrooms. Parents have hired a professional to test the RF radiation on the property, which exceeds recommendations by Building Biologists and the BioInitiative Report, 2012. Obsolete FCC guidelines, not applicable to children, have been met. What is particularly disturbing is that this is on the grounds of a church and the antenna are stealth types – hidden in the steeple and disguised as parking lot lighting. Also, that there are so many. Many ethical questions are being raised, as well as concerns for the welfare of the charter school, church members, staff, and surrounding community. Pastor Larry Peltier, Senior Pastor, feels that the antennas, which have been there for 15 years, are “safe”, meet governmental requirements, and that people are simply becoming overly anxious, which could account for any reported illnesses. The lease for the antennas is 25 years, and they may be upgraded, according to our information, at will, and have been, as other cell towers and antenna are, to accommodate more public demand for newer cell phones. See what you think! Please note that the NBC segment neglects to mention the hidden cell antenna in the steeple.
