Take Action: Request to be placed on an opt-out list for an analog meter

California Residents who are customers of SDG&E, SCE, or PG&E:

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern CA Edison (SCE) Customers:

If you have an analog meter now (if you are on the Delay List) and would like to keep it, or if you would like to have utility smart meters removed following the April 19th approval of the two opt-out plans, it is very important that you request this now – contact your utility with an email and/or phone call requesting to be placed on their smart meter opt-out list for an analog meter.

For SDG&E customers go to http://sdge.com/customer-service/contact-us .

For SCE customers go to http://www.sce.com

Also, you may wish to send a request by certified return receipt in the US mail so you have proof that the request was received.

PG&E Customers have been eligible for a smart meter opt-out since Feb. 1. Go to www.pge.com for contact information, follow directions above.

If you still have an analog meter:

People on the PG&E Delay List have until May 1 to decide whether to sign up to opt-out for an analog, otherwise, PG&E will (attempt to) install a smart meter. If unable to access your property or the meter, PG&E will add you to their opt-out program.

If you already have a smart meter:

Contact PG&E to request an analog meter be installed as an opt-out. Go to www.pge.com for contact information.

*opt-outs are not free at this time, there is a cost of $75 to changeout the meters (may be paid over three months – check this with your utility) and $10 a month to cover meter reader and other costs
